Install Drupal

Jika kita memakai hosting yang menggunakan cpanel, pasti di fantastico deluxe sudah tersedia install cepat drupal ini. Tapi jika fasilitas tersebut tidak ada, maka kita dapat men download drupal dulu.

Kemudian upload dan extract file di hosting

Create the database

Dikarenakan drupal membutuhkan database maka buat dulu database di MySQL atau PostgreSQL (pilih salah satu)

Run the install script

Install script untuk setting base URL, connect Drupal ke database, dan create tables di database.

Run install script base URL website kita di browser (misal http://www.my-drupal-site.com). Di Database Configuration page, isi dengan database yang telah kita buat tadi

Rename /sites/default/default.settings.php menjadi /sites/default/settings.php

Rubah write-protect settings.php dan setelah updating, protect kembali file tersebut read only.

Configure website

Jika install script sukses, kita akan di direct ke “Welcome” page. Ini merupakan setup tampilan awal dan konfigurasi Drupal kita.

Tampilan ini akan tetap di front page sampai kita promosi sesuatu (default behavior) atau merubah front page setting.

Saat ini kita belum mempunyai configured accounts di situs kita. Account pertama yang kita buat nanti adalah super admin account (UID1).

Create the first account

Click “create the first account” link. Di user account creation page, masukkan deatil kita dan click ‘create new account’.

Ini akan membuat user account page untuk UID1. UID1 merupakan super user situs kita.

Set timezone dan click submit.

Basic configuration

Click Administrator link. Di sini merupakan administrative section. Kita dapat men setting nya sekarang atau nanti

Status Report

Status Report menyimpan informasi tentang situs kita

Di status report page, kita akan mendapatkan dua error yaitu Cron is not configured dan file system. Konfigurasi cron bisa kita setting nanti, sekarang click run cron manually untuk menghilankan error dulu.

File System

File system merupakan tempat  semua yang kita upload di simpan. Jika kita menggunakan CSS aggregation, maka penyimpanan tersebut akan lebih baik.

Buat sendiri di root situs kita atau Click link  ‘file system settings page’ dan Drupal akan membuat files directory secara otomatis.

Click file system settings page link atau browse administer > site configuration > file system secara manual.

Theme Settings

Di menu pergi ke Administer > Site building dan pilih Themes.

Pada instalasi baru, Garland enabled dan menjadi default theme. Click  Configure tab next to List dan kita akan melihat Global settings for themes. Kita melakukan perubahan-perubahan yang sesuai dengan tampilan situs kita.

User Management

Di Administer menu pergi ke user management > User Settings dan set user registration

Di Management menu, pilih Roles. Kita akan menemukan dua default roles.

By default, Drupal comes with two user roles:

• Anonymous user: this role is used for users that don’t have a user account or that are not authenticated.
• Authenticated user: this role is automatically granted to all logged in users.

Sekarang tambah role ‘administrator‘. Dan edit permissions nya dan centang (check) semua yang ada di situ. Save permissions.

Untuk testing user, kita bisa buat user name baru yang kita kehendaki. Pergi ke Users dan pilih Add user tab. Buat user name baru lalu Logout dan login kembali dengan account baru tersebut. Lihat menu yang terlihat.  Logout dan login kembali dengan account adminnistrator. Rubah dan tambahkan administer role pada test account tersebut dan ulangi lagi. Lihat perubahannya.

CRON tasks

Beberapa Drupal modules seperti search functionality dan maintenance to clear log files dan cache, mempunyai tasks periodik yang harus di kontrol oleh scheduled job. Untuk activate tasks tersebut, panggil cron.php di http://www.my-drupal-site.com/cron.php Ini akan mengontrol module-module.

Contoh dari crontab yang akan otomatis aktif setiap jam adalah :
